Dr. Varhely grew up in the Austin area and attended Texas State University San Marcos, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Biology/Biochemistry. After graduating from medical school at Ross University, he relocated to Milwaukee to complete his residency in Psychiatry at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
Most recently, Dr. Varhely served as a Staff Psychiatrist at The Department of Veteran’s Affairs clinics in Temple and Austin. In addition to providing outpatient psychiatric care, he acted as an attending physician for resident psychiatrists at Texas A&M and UT Dell Medical Schools.
As a trained physician, Dr. Varhely is able to understand the biological, psychological, and social/family components of illness. He can order diagnostic laboratory tests, prescribe medications if they are needed, and has treated a wide variety of psychiatric illnesses.
